Does Credit Acceptance Approve Everyone for Auto Financing?
As an indirect auto finance company, Credit Acceptance does not “approve” you for financing, but participating dealers can. When you're in the market for a vehicle but have less-than-perfect credit — or no credit at all — lining up auto financing can feel like a major obstacle. That’s where dealers in the Credit Acceptance network can help.
Participating Credit Acceptance network strive to provide auto financing to people who have been turned away elsewhere.
Our dealers regularly work with the credit-challenged
Credit Acceptance doesn’t operate like a traditional provider of auto financing. Instead of using rigid credit score thresholds to determine eligibility, we work through a nationwide network of more than 15,000 participating dealerships — franchise, independent, and Buy Here Pay Here.
Each is empowered to greenlight a broad spectrum of buyers, including those with:
- Bad credit or no credit history
- Fixed or unemployment income
- Self-employed or temporary income
- Open auto financing elsewhere
- Past bankruptcies (Chapter 7 and 13, with court/trustee approval)
- Repossessions
Our goal is to help every customer find a path to vehicle ownership, regardless of their financial challenges.
We don’t require a minimum credit score
Unlike other auto finance companies that rely heavily on credit scores to determine eligibility, dealers in the Credit Acceptance network do not require a minimum score to apply. Instead of focusing solely on your credit history, Credit Acceptance and its dealer network take a more flexible approach, reviewing income, budget, and repayment ability.
Our approach is particularly helpful for first-time buyers or individuals working to rebuild after a difficult financial period. In fact, one of the greatest benefits of financing a car through us is that we can help customers start building (or rebuilding) credit through consistent, on-time car payments.
We welcome co-signers, but don’t demand them
Because Credit Acceptance works with customers regardless of their financial history, a co-signer may not be required in most cases. However, having one can often improve the terms of your auto financing. A co-signer with a strong credit profile, for example, can strengthen your application and may help secure lower interest rates.
Our network makes “yes” possible
Credit Acceptance’s dealer network finds financing paths for customers that traditional lenders might overlook. Together, we extend financing to as many applicants as we can. We’re able to offer so many second chances thanks to our extensive dealer support and flexible financing criteria.
